Photo Requirements And Limits

Use This

Show the body cues clearly

Use one clear, well-lit, in-focus deer that is centered and large enough to see. A broadside, full-body view gives the app the most visible neck, chest, belly, backline, and leg cues.

Avoid This

Do not rely on a weak frame

Blur, darkness, distance, obstruction, front- or rear-only angles, and multiple deer can limit the analysis. The app may withhold age and ask for a clearer photo instead of forcing a number.

Unofficial B&C Scoring

New Feature

Boone and Crockett scoring workflow

For harvested bucks, Iron Stag includes a guided unofficial scoring workflow. The user selects a score type and enters physical antler measurements manually; the AI does not derive those measurements from the photo.

Supported Paths

Whitetail and mule deer

Typical and non-typical scoring paths are supported for both whitetail and mule deer. The workflow keeps measurements, totals, and notes organized. The result is not a certified Boone & Crockett score.

Iron Stag FAQ

Which deer species does Iron Stag analyze?

Iron Stag supports Whitetail Deer and Mule Deer. Other animals are not supported for AI deer analysis.

What can Iron Stag return from a deer photo?

When the photo provides enough visible cues, Iron Stag can return an estimated age, body condition, antler point details for bucks, confidence, visible reasoning, and harvest context.

What kind of photo works best with Iron Stag?

Use one clear, well-lit, in-focus deer that is centered and large enough to see. A broadside, full-body view provides the most visible body cues.

What happens when a photo does not show enough aging cues?

Iron Stag may withhold a numeric age and provide retake guidance instead of forcing an estimate.

Which unofficial B&C scoring paths are supported?

Iron Stag supports Typical and Non-Typical scoring workflows for both Whitetail Deer and Mule Deer. The result is unofficial and not a certified Boone & Crockett score.
